On a hot-water system, pressure that rises past about 30 psi when the boiler is hot usually points to a waterlogged expansion tank or a fill valve letting in too much water. The relief valve may start to drip.
Ducts added to a bungalow often have small returns. A furnace starved for return air runs hot and short-cycles. Adding return capacity is a common fix.
If your bungalow still has working radiators, you don’t have to give them up to get air conditioning. High-velocity AC or mini splits add cooling and leave the boiler doing what it already does well.
If the house has already been converted, focus on the ductwork before buying a bigger furnace. Most comfort complaints in converted bungalows come from the ducts, not the furnace.

Attics gain heat through the roof, and bungalow attics were finished long after the house was built, usually without their own supply or return. A ductless mini split or a dedicated attic system is the usual fix.
The relief valve is there to prevent danger, but it shouldn’t be opening. Rising pressure means the expansion tank or fill valve needs attention. Call if the gauge keeps climbing or the relief valve drips.
